NOOK Color: Overclocked To 1.1 GHz – Will You Try It?

The NOOK Color since its release has always been an eReader with more potential than it was allowed to show. On the standard NOOK Color it has a processor speed of 800MHz, however we have recently reported that one of the XDA developers had managed to overclock it to speeds of 950MHz.

It’s not the only device being toyed with either; we have also reported that the Nexus S had been overclocked to 1.4GHz and that the Sprint edition of the Galaxy Tab had reached 1.2GHz. Now we are reporting that the NOOK Color has been overclocked again, this time it’s been pushed up to 1.1GHz, which is pretty impressive.

The work on the processor was done by ‘dalingrin’ and as they say in their forum post, their work was based on the previous work of ‘geniusdog254’. Head over to the XDA Developers forum and retrieve the zip files and instructions if you want to give it a try. Based on the feedback provided in the forum, it is stable. It’s also worth reading Will Shanklin’s article over at androidcentral.com.

What do you think of the overclocking on the NOOK Color? Will you try it? If you go ahead with it, make sure you come back and let us know how you get on by giving us some feedback in the comments section below.

I need someone with experience to overclock my Nook Color. Is there anyone who would do it for a reasonable fee?

  • Tim Ollason

Hi Charles, your best bet is going to be going to the XDA-Developers form and actually asking one of the guys (or gals) on there. They will hopefully be able to give you some kind of instructions for you to do it comfortably.

Let us know how you get on and thanks for reading!
