Samsung Galaxy Tab 2: Will reveal be at MWC 2011?

It’s fair to say that the Samsung Galaxy Tab was the first real contender to the Apple iPad when it was released last year, after several months of Apple seemingly having it all its own way. Now there appear to be some teasers of a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 on its way.

We previously speculated on devices that Samsung might reveal at MWC 2011 next month in Barcelona when Samsung made it clear that it was saving some big announcements for MWC, rather than make them at CES earlier this month. The president of Samsung’s mobile business, J K Shin, said the company would unveil its plans for dual-processor devices announcing, “In February at MWC, we will unveil our next-generation tablet device portfolio in detail.”

A few days ago we noted the prices for the original Samsung Galaxy Tab were being dropped on Sprint and wondered if this was because the iPad 2 was upcoming. Or maybe a new Galaxy Tab was on its way? Now Phil Nickinson over on Android Central has reported on a teaser video, sourced from YouTube via OLED-Display, apparently showing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 although of course this cannot be confirmed and could be a fake. You can see the video below this story. What do you think?

Samsung already made a fairly big splash for MWC 2011 announcing a preview teaser event on February 1 with a big reveal on February 13 with the company announcing “Something big is coming” and the words on a mystery box saying, “Evolution is FATE.” We’ve previously speculated this may be for an unveiling of a new Samsung Galaxy S handset but now this has got us wondering.

Phones Review also reports on the leaked video and notes some of the specs listed as a 7-inch Super AMOLED display, a Tegra 2 processor, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash with 3-megapixel front-facing. It will all be running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread at the time of release, upgradeable to 3.0 Honeycomb and be available in different colors with a white option. However none of this is set in stone as Phones Review also points out that it could be a fake video.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think this video is genuine and would you be interested in a Samsung Galaxy 2? Why not let us know with your comments.
