Google Gets A Re-Shuffle: New CEO Steps In

Search engine giant Google is getting a bit of a re-shuffle up stairs with current CEO Eric Schmidt stepping down and co-founder Larry Page moving up in to his position.

The move will see Schmidt move down to executive chairman, where he will focus externally, on the deals, partnerships, customers and broader business relationships, according to Cnet. Page who created Google back in 1998 with computer genius Sergey Brin will take on the role as Google’s new chief executive and inspiration. The changes are set to come into effect on 4th April and it appears there is no bad blood as Schmidnt, Page and Brin all have a very good working relationship.

One or two questions have been raised over how these changes will have an impact on the company and for one Google has reported profits of of $8.44 billion, and as a result Barrons has stated that the change is of little conern to the company. Lets see how the profits are this time next year.

So now Larry Page has taken over the reigns of day to day operations on the world’s biggest search engine, it begs the question… can Goolge overhaul Facebook? It will be interesting to see what changes Page makes to his company and if he launches Google Me. What do you think a new CEO will bring to Goolge? Leave us your thoughts in the comments.
