HTC “Flyer” Tablet Released Before Xoom & PlayBook?

As we slowly get to the end of January, we can already look back at forthcoming devices that have been showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show, the announcement of Verizon and iPhone and before long we will be bringing you reports on the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. As well as mobile phones this year, tablets will feature highly and from what we know so far, HTC will be bringing their very own offerings to the table, one of which we had reported on being the Scribe.

Over recent weeks, we have brought you reports of tablets such as the BlackBerry Playbook, Motorola’s Xoom, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 2 and so on, and if today’s indications are anything to go by HTC will be doing their best to beat off competition with their “Flyer” tablet. Over at Engadget via Digitimes, the tablet is reported to include Android 2.3 Gingerbread which in time can be upgraded to Honeycomb 3.0.

Although details are still a little sketchy it appears that the Flyer will be making its launch onto the American market during early part of March. Consequently, HTC are hoping by releasing it then, it will give it some headway before the Playbook emerges again in March and the Xoom in April.

Note: Not an HTC Flyer image.

At this present time, as Phones Review reported, it is still unclear as to what carrier will be running with the Flyer and what pricing bracket it will fall into, details should be clearer at the MWC next month. As well as this, rumor has it that HTC are looking at bringing an additional 2 tablets during June with the inclusion of Honeycomb 3.0.

Will you be holding off getting a tablet until the Flyer makes its entrance?
