Olympus E-PL2 Review Roundup and Price Details

The new Olympus E-PLT 2, a follow-on from the E-PLT 1 that came out last year, has been receiving some very positive comments so we thought we’d take a look at some of the reviews and give you a roundup of what’s being said.

Some of the specs include a 4.3 aspect ratio, contrast detection Auto focus and intelligent Auto with Live Guide. It also has built-in flash and a Lithium-ion rechargeable battery but to find out more on all the specs hit the following links. Over on Pocket-Lint, Chris Hall gives an extremely comprehensive review and points out that this update gives some tweaks rather than a major overhaul. The price of the E-PLT 2 at the time of the review was £529.

Hall goes on to say that for people looking for a solidly built camera, that’s compact and looks good, the E-PLT 2 could appeal, as either a back-up camera or to use instead of a high-end compact. The review also notes that a definite improvement are the control options with rear rotating dial on the newer model and draws a comparison on specs with the Olympus E-P2. There were minor criticism about shadow noise and video capture and overall the E-PLT 2 is seen as a good choice for a step-up model.

Dennis Hissink on LetsGoDigital includes a useful photo gallery on his review and says the E-PLT 2 includes good functionality and at the same time is easy to use. The camera is said to be a good option for beginners who want to have high DSLR quality. Alternatively Richard Baguley on Digital Camera Info has also given us a very thorough review and notes the E-PLT 2 has the same pros (ease-of-use and compact size) and cons (somewhat noisy image and no viewfinder) as its predecessor.
