BlackBerry Torch 2 New Leaked Specs: Is It Enough?

Research in Motion’s offering with the launch of the BlackBerry Torch, gave us something to think about towards the end of 2010. Unfortunately, with the likes of Apple’s impressive iPhone 4, it may have at times struggled to grab the attention of mobile phone users. Although packing some fantastic features such as the running of BlackBerry‘s 6 OS, QWERTY keyboard, touch screen, social networking accessibility, 5 megapixel camera and so on, things may be about to change and for the better. We announce the Torch 2.

The guys over at BGR have managed to source a photo along with a list of specifications with what we can hope to see. The biggest change looking at them in more detail, is that of a change in processor. The at times “slow” 600MHz processor will now be replaced with a 1.2GHz processor. But is this enough before we list the others to wet your appetite?

On board some of the features include that of a 3.2 inch VGA capacitive display, 8GB built in memory, 512MB RAM, Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, 5 megapixel camera, 1300 mAh battery, BlackBerry 6.1 OS, in appearance you could be mistaken for thinking its the Torch 9800, the only difference being the silver matt finish.

RIM’s introduction is hoped to reach shelves by Quarter 3 but unfortunately as Examiner.com pointed out, this may be too late, what with the Verizon iPhone already positioned and Apple’s iPhone 5 on the way. With no definite date and pricing structure to go on, all we can say at this stage is that it will come down to personal preference.

What are your thoughts on yet another Torch? Is the new faster processor enough to tempt you, or will the BlackBerry just get buried underneath its competitors?
