iPhone 5 and iPad 2 Rumors: Features for next versions

Many of us are eagerly looking forward to releases of new versions of the Apple iPhone and also the iPad. The iPhone 5 and iPad 2 are both expected to be released in the first half of this year and both have gathered a lot of speculation about what may be coming.

We now have a much better idea of new features and additions which could be coming to the next-generation models as earlier today we reported that the iOS 4.3 beta edition had been released to developers. New features that will be coming with the operating system are improved AirPlay support, personal hotspot and more.

According to Jonathan S. Geller over on BGR the reason that multitouch features have been added with iOS 4.3 for the iPad, is because the iPad 2 could be losing its home button. Instead of using button taps the multitouch gestures will access the home screen with 4 or 5 finger pinch and swipe movements. The task switcher will also be launched in the same way.

According to the rumors the iPhone 5 home button could also be lost and it’s said that Apple employees are already testing devices without home buttons. The article also mentions that iLife apps for iOS will also be revealed. An article over on Electronista also tells more about the Photo Booth app which should be coming to the iPad 2 and says that Apple is likely to charge for the iLife Apps through the App Store but that Photo Booth for the iPad 2 will possibly be free.

The idea of an iPhone 5 and iPad 2 without home buttons would certainly take some getting used to but would surely please Steve Jobs as it’s reported that he originally desired a button-free design on the iPhone. What do you think of the new additions possibly coming to the next models of the iPhone and iPad? Why not let us know by sending us your comments
