HP WebOS Tablet Unveiling On The 9 February: iPad Contender?

With plenty of devices to report on from last week’s CES show, and news of 2011 being the year of the tablet, its a surprise to hear that we will have to wait a little longer to hear of Hewlett Packard’s offering into the market. Judging by comments from Personal System Group Executive VP “Todd Bradley,” they didn’t need a big stage to unveil their tablet but would prefer to do it on the 9 February. This as the VP reported, is to give attendees the chance to experience and take in the full quality of what they will be offering.

As Engadget reported, in a recent interview live from CES, CNBC questioned Bradley as to what we could expect to see from the new tablet, when it was going to be revealed, the new WebOS and what can it offer in comparison to Apple’s iPad? In answer to the interviewer, he replied “you and I will talk about that on the 9th.” Following on from this he spoke about the new WebOS and what users will benefit from. Since its acquisition with Palm the middle of last year, the OS will give users the option of opening up various applications at any one time.

At this stage until official specifications are announced we will have to give you the snippets of information we have acquired from the guys over at tabletpcreview.com. The PalmPad (although the name could change), is reported to have WiMAX support, running on Sprint’s 4G network, mini HDMI port, 1.3 megapixel front and rear cameras amongst others.

Are you looking forward to HP’s announcement? What would you like to see? Let us know.
