New ‘Scoop’ Reveals Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS?

Ok first off, apologies for the pun, it was too hard to resist. On a serious note, we are trying to work out the name of the next Android based OS. We have heard that it is going to be called ‘Ice Cream’ which seems fairly logical, however now we are hearing otherwise.

We have read reports that the OS is actually going to be called, ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’, it seems like a bit of a lengthy codename but as with everything in the mobile world, anything is possible. Honeycomb hasn’t even been officially released by Android on their official site yet and we are already talking about the next version.

According to Alex Wagner of phonedog.com the name does make sense because of the dessert statue that is normally outside of its HQ for each Android release as it will be different to previous ones. Jason Kincaid over at TechCrunch.com is saying that the statues would perhaps be too difficult to differentiate between Froyo and Ice Cream but also interestingly he says that Andy Rubin mentioned it whilst speaking to Michael Arrington and himself (Jason Kincaid) about the Nexus S. What do you think the new Android OS is going to be called? If we are going down the Ice Cream ‘Something Else’ route then it could be anything, Ice Cream Cone? Let us know your suggestions in the comment box below.
