iPhone 4 Release: Announcement Sparks Twitter Debate

Just a few hours ago, came the news that everybody was waiting for, yes, the release of the iPhone 4 on Verizon’s CDMA network. The handset which will be released on February 10 will be retailing for $199.99 for the 16GB and $299.99 for the 32GB. Along with both models receiving the same specification sheet, they will also benefit from FaceTime calling, Retina Display as well as the benefit of being used as a mobile hotspot, something that AT&T lacks in.

As we reported here at OSM earlier, news surrounding the handset’s release date, pricing structure and specification listing has been waited on for some time, in fact since 2008, so today’s news has been a blessing for many mobile users. The guys over at Gizmodo have also stated that Verizon’s iPhone 4 will be available to pre-order from February 3.

For many the announcement from Verizon’s CEO Lowell Mcadam was a big sigh of relief, but surprisingly enough as The Huffington Post reported, a majority of you took to online social networking site Twitter straight away to voice your own opinions. Reactions were completely mixed and noted of sheer elation, through to disappointment. Head on over to Twitter for the full listing of comments.

What do you think about today’s news? Do you think there has been too much hype surrounding this and how will it stand against Android competition this year?
