Liverpool FC: Ryan Babel may be in trouble following Twitter rant

Earlier today we reported the reaction to the FA Cup tie between Manchester United and Liverpool on Twitter. Now Liverpool’s Ryan Babel has joined in the debate via Twitter, and could now see himself in trouble with the Football Association.

Daniel Taylor over at Guardian.co.uk is reporting that the Dutch star posted a mocked up photo of referee Howard Webb in a Manchester United shirt. With the picture he commented “And they call him one of the best referees? That’s a joke. SMH.”

Howard Webb awarded Manchester United an early penalty, and then sent off Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard. A spokesman from the FA has said they are aware of Babel’s outburst and would be looking into it.

Ryan Babel later went on to Tweet “Sorry Howard Webb. My apology if they take my posted pic seriously. This is just an emotional reaction after losing an important game.” He wasn’t the only one moaning about Webb on Twitter.

Kenny Dalglish’s son Paul posted “Howard Webb MBE. Manc of the Busby Era. I am not normally bitter, as you know, but it is different rules against them.” In a separate tweet, he added “Fergie has his puppet Howard Webb on a piece of string.” He also posted a mocked up picture of the Manchester United manager with his arm around Webb.

Do you think Ryan Babel should be punished by the FA?

NO I DONT THINK YOU SHOULD TAKE IT FURTHER, it is disgusting leave the lad alone, he has just lost a match that was refereed by a lousy referee. there should not have been a penalty at all. it was very clear on video. Gerrard was wrong i think, but think it was with frustration. leave abel alone please , I am a Newcastle fan, born in liverpool. think about it,???????/
