Mercedes mbrace iPhone App: New version in February

Here at OSM we like to keep you informed on some of the best new apps and recently told you about some alarm clock apps and a Ford SYNC Destinations app. Now we hear that Mercedes is bringing out a new version of its mbrace iPhone app and can tell you of a hands-on experience with it.

The new version is set to be released in February and along with the original functions such as locking and unlocking your car remotely, will add more navigation features. Tim Stevens over on Engadget tells us of his hands-on look at the app and notes one of the best new features is Drive2Friend.

Drive2Friend sounds amazing and works like this. You put in the mobile number of the person you’re trying to reach and a text message will be sent to them via the app telling them who you are and saying that you’re trying to locate them. If that person wants you to find them a message is sent back to you with their location along with directions to reach them. As long as you’re an mbrace subscriber you will be able to use this service.

For more about the mbrace service go to this Mercedes-Benz website page here where you can find more in-depth information and an overview on what it’s all about. What are your thoughts on the features of the new Mercedes mbrace iPhone app? Why not send us your comments to let us know.
