Samsung at MWC 2011: Dual-core phones and tablets

We’re still covering all the news from CES 2011 in Las Vegas but already attentions are being turned to the Mobile World Congress which starts on February 14. We’ve seen some great new products from Samsung at CES such as the Samsung Galaxy Player, an LED 3DTV and the Samsung 9 Series laptop to name only a few, but it seems there’s more to come.

It appears that Samsung is saving some major announcements for MWC in Barcelona, in particular for February 13, the day before the official beginning. Sascha Segan over on PC Mag reports that J K Shin, the president of Samsung’s mobile business said today at CES, “We will continue to keep our technology leadership this year. In terms of dual-core applications, we already have a program, and next month at Mobile World Congress we will unveil it.”

Although we’ve seen dual-core processor products from companies such as LG and Motorola, being unveiled at CES, we’ve yet to see dual-core smartphones and tablets from Samsung. However Shin also announced, “In February at MWC, we will unveil our next-generation tablet device portfolio in detail,” adding,“We are in a position to supply 4G smartphones and tablets to all the carriers in the US.” He also stated Samsung’s intention to keep its partnership with Microsoft, saying that there could also be announcements in February of new Windows Phone 7 devices.
