PlayStation Phone preview: More details leak

We know that a lot of our readers are looking forward to the release of the almost mythical Sony PlayStation Phone which has at times also been dubbed the Xperia Play and Zeus Z1. We previously told of a possible April release date and then a few days ago told how the phone appeared to have been spotted running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, along with some photos.

Now we have news from Richard Lai over on Engadget, sourced from IT168, of a full preview that has come from the Chinese website. We can see that as said before, the Xperia logo on the device can now be seen and it looks likely that it will use the 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 processor. The speed and performance of the device is said to have improved greatly from previous glimpses and there are more leaked specs such as the 4-inch LCD display with 854 x 480 resolution.

You’ll also find a 5-megapixel camera, 512 MB RAM, micro-USB, SIM slot and microSD slot and you can see videos on the Engadget link above. Michael Heller on Androinica has also been reporting on the PlayStation Phone and makes the point that after the devices we’ve already seen coming out of CES 2011, the specs don’t seem that impressive.

Are you avidly waiting for the PlayStation phone and if so are you impressed with the specs we know of so far, or maybe you feel a little disappointed? We’d be interested to hear from you so please do send in your comments.
