BlackBerry 4G PlayBook: Coming to Sprint 4G network

News from CES 2011 continues to come thick and fast and we’ve now heard more about RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, thought to be a real contender to the iPad. We’ve posted many articles about the PlayBook and most recently gave you a preview of it from CES.

Now we hear that a 4G PlayBook will be available by the summer for the Sprint 4G network. Many people will be pleased to hear this news and will no doubt be waiting to find out more. Ross Miller over on Engadget fills us in and says that the 4G PlayBook will be “exclusively from Sprint this summer” though of course this means non-4G models could come at any other time to any other carrier.

Engadget also supplied a press release from Sprint and RIM which lauds the fact that the 4G PlayBook will use the “blazingly fast Sprint 4G network,” and also points out that the Sprint 4G network is now available in 71 markets, with more to come of course. You can also see the official BlackBerry 4G PlayBook product page over on the Sprint website and sign up for updates so you won’t miss when it’s coming.
