CES 2011 Tablet Frenzy – Sales Forecast

We’re continuing to keep readers informed with as much news as we can from CES 2011 and already noted that the big news this year seems to be surrounding tablet devices. Other recent articles we’ve posted of news from CES include Asus tablet devices, a Panasonic Star Wars-linked event taking place today and news of a Toshiba Android tablet.

Now it seems that our forecasts about the main attention being on tablets was correct as Eric Savitz over on Forbes writes how tablets sales are expected to see huge rises this year. Apparently Forrester Research has forecast that that sales of tablets this year look likely to double, to around 24 million units. By 2012 the forecasts are that around 35 million tablets will be sold followed by 44 million by 2015.

These are staggering figures but maybe we should not be surprised when you consider the sheer amounts of tablets due to be unveiled within the next few days. It seems that the major manufacturers are also predicting these huge increases in tablet sales although Forrester also predicts that the Apple iPad, (iPad 2 coming soon), will still be the main player.

If you want to know even more about some of the tablets expected at CES 2011 then check out an article by Richard Adhikari over on TechNewsWorld who goes into detail about several expected devices. What are your thoughts on these predictions for tablet sales? We’d be interested to hear your comments.
