HTC EVO Shift 4G: Sprint release date January 9 plus video review

We probably shouldn’t say this but here at OSM we’re often amused by a big unveiling being upstaged by an earlier leak. Only yesterday we bought you news of the HTC EVO Shift 4G as the specs had been released early by Walmart before the official launch expected at CES this week.

This morning Sprint indeed unveiled the EVO Shift 4G but a video has already become available from a third party and not the manufacturer or Sprint. The news of the video was brought to us from Chris Ziegler over on Engadget, sourced from Wirefly, and it gives a pretty good idea of what to expect. You can see the video below this story.

From what we can see of the 10-minute video the performance looks pretty impressive and Engadget notes a Quadrant score of more than 1,400 to back that up. Now, if we could only see it running Android Gingerbread it would look even better. If you want to find out more you can now see the product page for the EVO Shift 4G over on Sprint here with the release date confirmed as January 9.

What are your thoughts on the HTC EVO Shift 4G? Are you tempted to make a purchase or maybe you’re waiting to see what other new handsets will come out of CES 2011? Why not send us your comments to let us know.
