Foursquare CES 2011 Badges: Rewarding Attendees for Check-ins

CES 2011 is going to be upon us in a few days time and whilst we have reported on various products and technologies that will be appearing, we haven’t spoken to much to you too much about what social media and social networking you should expect.

Of course there is a Facebook page for CES with people who ‘Like’ it meaning they get regular updates on posts on their wall, but one of the other growing social networking sites, Foursquare has been very clever. Foursquare is a location based social networking site that gives you badges when a certain number of Foursquare users check-in at the same place.

There have been a few popular badges in the past, such as the Super Duper and Epic Swarm. Now this is the clever bit. To encourage people to go to the CES event in Las Vegas, Foursquare are offering a cool coveted badge for CES. It doesn’t stop there, if you are holding your shiny new CES badge if you complete the required check-ins you will be entered into a prize draw for electrical devices. Not only does it add more traffic to Foursquare, but it also adds even more reorganization of the event.

You can read a little more about the check-ins over at Yahoo News and also MarketingPilgrim.com. If you currently aren’t a Foursquare user and want to be, you can sign up with them by clicking here. Those of you that have an iPodTouch, iPad or iPhone you can download the app by clicking here. For all you Android, BlackBerry, Palm and WP7 users, click here and you will be directed to the Foursquare app page, click on your OS and then you can download the app.
