Apple Vs Android Vs BlackBerry: Apple iOS Leads On Market Share

Apple have had a lot of success in recent years because of their iPhone. Back in June 2010 the iPhone 4 was released which has quickly become a favorite of many consumers. BlackBerry on the other hand, they seem to have slipped away a bit, then again they have only released a single handset that could be deemed as a success, that would be the Torch.

Android have done especially well. Everybody knows how popular they are and with so many manufacturers opting towards them, it’s no surprise that they have been the most popular OS over the last 6 months. Have a look at the graph below, it came from NielsenWire.com. RIM’s BlackBerry OS has gone from 35.0% to 19.2%, Apple’s OS has gone from 20.9% to 26.9% and Android went from 27.5% to 20.8%.

Even though Android has had this sudden surge of popularity, when you look at overall market share, Apple are still the top dog. Even with the steep decrease for the RIM BlackBerry OS, they are still in the mix. The market share figures look like this, RIM’s BlackBerry OS has gone from 33.9% to 26.1%, Android has gone from 15.0% to 25.8% and Apple looked like this 27.9% to 28.6%. You have to think that Apple’s will increase dramatically when the Verizon iPhone finally materializes. You can read a bit more about the figures over at AppleInsider.com by clicking here.
