2011 Business Plan: Social Trends You Should Know

Well, it’s the end of the year and everyone is gearing up to start the New Year with a bang. This year is no different, especially for businesses. With all the preparation and plans for the forthcoming year, there are a few things that we wanted to inform you of which might help.

Whilst the way that things are changing in our world technologically may appear fairly obvious, not all businesses seem to be aware. If they were, one way they could potentially earn more revenue would be by using Mobile App Development. This year will undoubtedly be “The Year Of The Tablet” and with that in mind, take advantage. Have an app developed for your business compatible with smartphones and tablets, but ensure to allow customer feedback, eBay didn’t get so big without it. According to Tara DeMarco over at BazaarBlog, 1 in every 5 cell phones sold is a smartphone. Now there’s a market to get into!

Another way and perhaps the most effective is to Use Facebook Effectively. When you think about Internet searches in the U.S, every 4th page searched for is a Facebook page. It was the most searched for term and the most visited website this year, you would be silly not to take advantage of that right? By using Facebook effectively, we don’t mean pumping the site full of your adverts (especially when 96% of Facebook users don’t click on them); instead we mean creating and maintaining a Facebook Page for your business. We at OSM cannot remember the last time we looked at an advertisement on Facebook; some of us were only on it within the last half an hour. Instead of forcing your adverts upon users, let them come to you, engage with the users in this manner and you will not be a hindrance or an inconvenience. This is because they are following your brand instead of you chasing them.
