Celebrate New Year’s Eve With GetGlue, CNN & MTV

All around the world in just a few days time, we will be saying goodbye to 2010 and celebrating yet another year with plenty of new year‘s resolutions. But whatever your plans are, GetGlue, the social networking site for up to date entertainment news, with the collaboration of stations CNN and MTV will now be bringing you the latest celebrations from Times Square for the famous “ball lowering.” With this new idea, GetGlue will be hoping to set a trend of enticing as many viewers as possible to its live show.

By downloading GetGlue‘s entertainment app beforehand, and then on the special night, checking in with CNN’s Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper or as Mashable reported, MTV’s Whitney Cummings and Jersey Shore cast members Pauly D and Snooki, you will be entitled to one of their virtual stickers. If and only if you check into the New Year’s Live Bash with one of CNN’s reporters before 11 pm ET on the 31 December, you will be entitled to an additional sticker. Lostremote.com has stated, that unlike GetGlue’s competitor Foursquare, you will actually get your real sticker in the post.

GetGlue’s CEO Alex Iskold has said that although promotional material may be a little lapse, both CNN and MTV will be promoting GetGlue on sites such as Facebook and Twitter. For fans of Jersey Shore’s Snooki, look out for her, when she will be inside the ball as it gets lowered.

What are your plans on this one special night of the year? Will you be at Times Square or just checking into the app? Let us know.
