Joanna Yeates Tributes Left On Facebook

The very saddening revelation that landscape architect Joanna Yeates was recently murdered has not gone unnoticed as thousands of tributes have been left on Facebook.

In recent times when an unfortunate event has occurred, friends, family and the public take to the social networking site to offer their condolences and to pay their tributes. Joanna’s body was discovered tragically on Christmas Day and since then over 3,500 users have flooded Facebook to show their support and leave personal messages on an official page, according to Sky News.

The news broke today that the cause of death was from strangling and so a murder investigation has began. Police are calling for help from anyone who has seen anything, with posters being put up to find Joanna like the one above before she was found dead.

An example of a tribute left on Facebook, courtesy of Burton Mail read: “Rest in peace Joanna. Greg, family and friends my thoughts and prayers are with you. Xxx.” Facebook could even be used as a method of obtaining information as it has been in the past, with criminals even caught through using it. Please leave us your thoughts on this story and let us know if you have left a tribute or plan to. Is Facebook a good way of bringing people together in times of trouble and for obtaining information?
