Celebrate New Year’s Eve With Ikea’s iPhone App

What better way to celebrate the new year with a glass of champagne. Well now, that idea has been taken one step further with the help of the iPhone and a brand new Ikea app. Furniture you are probably thinking, what has that got in common with a glass of bubbly?

Well nothing in fact, the cleverly designed new Skal! app (meaning cheers in English) will give you, the user, the option to toast your buddies without even having the real thing in front of you. The app accessible via iTunes, will give you the option of choosing your glass, be it, champagne flute, hi-ball, shot, pint and so on, and then your glass will start to get filled up with the liquid from the champagne bottle. With the aid of the iPhone’s camera, the app will change the background. On tilting the iPhone either way, the liquid will move from side to side, and on tapping your iPhone on to another to toast, you will notice it automatically makes the clinking sound.

On doing this, the cameras will take a picture of that special moment and as Mashable reported, the app will then exchange your user names and profile pictures in order for them to be transferred onto social networking sites Facebook and Twitter if you desire.

How will you be celebrating this New Years Eve? Will it be with the Skal! app or maybe the real thing? I know which I would prefer.
