iPad 2: New Styling Details Including Wide Range Speakers

With rumors and speculation floating around about Apple’s iPad replacement, the latest fable to rear its head has been gleaned from a Japanese blogs unknown Chinese source. How while we agree it doesn’t like the ideal place to gain credible information, it could be worth taking a look at.

According to Engadget, the source speaks of a standard 9.7-inch screen but with the bezel reduced by 3-mm. As we reported earlier this month, a revised back panel (possibly made from plastic to reduce weight) with a flattened shape allowing a more solid desktop stance.

Digitaltrends explain that the device carries “metal mesh, wide-range speakers.” A snap shot below from Mac Otakara, gives us a glimpse of the backside of the tablet with the integrated speaker grilles. Comparing the overall size of the iPad 2 to its predecessor shows a slightly smaller unit. The current model measures up at 242.8 x 189.7 mm whilst the successor comes in at 239 x 186 mm.

Again although these are just rumors, the source has made claim to shipment dates around January next year, which would fall in line with other information that we have seen.

Tell us what you think, can these reports be trusted or are we getting excited too soon?
