Palm Pre 2: Coming to a Verizon store near you?

Back in November we informed our readers that an unlocked Palm Pre 2 was now being sold through HP online and then later that month gave a review of the Palm Pre 2 which was proving pretty popular as at the time HP had already sold out of the device.

Now there’s good news for those of you who were hoping to get a Palm Pre 2 on Verizon as rumors are mounting that it could be on its way. Darren Murph over on Engadget, sourced from eBay, says that only a short while after Engadget heard of a leaked internal from Verizon about training for the Palm Pre 2, a phone has appeared on eBay with the unremarkable model number P102EWW.

So what you say? Well apparently this is the CDMA version of the Palm Pre 2. After a certain amount of probing the handset was pulled off eBay but photos were taken of the device, and it certainly looks like the real deal. This may have been an early build but it certainly looks as though the Palm Pre 2 is on the way to Verizon.

Meanwhile Kelly over on IntoMobile, sourced from PreCentral points out that the Palm Pre 2 was initially rumored to be coming to Verizon on November 11 and then when it failed to show it was thought it would definitely be in Q4 of 2010 but as it hasn’t turned up yet and with many more promising new devices on the way, ponders whether it’s even worth any carrier taking up the device now.

What do you think about this? Are you hoping to see a Palm Pre 2 on Verizon or has it been so long turning up your attention has been caught by another device? Why not send us your comments to let us know.

first qtr 2011…it will go to Verizon. know if it will do well is still a mystery…but i love the phone…take it from a cell phone salesman

I dont want to pay verizon prices. But when the iPhone comes out on verizon i'm thinking about using the Palm Pre 2 unlocked on ATT. I'm hoping ATT has a mass exodus then they wont have all the network problems.

HP failed Palm and its WebOS by not pouring its vast resources into bringing an android looking Palm WebOS Vers.2 phone to market in Q4 2010. A WebOS tablet not out until 1st Qtr 2011? It's over. Android and Apple won the battle to penetrate and dominate the market first. Too bad…WebOS was superior to both of those operating systems.

I agree. I want to add that not only did HP fail Palm, but more importantly, together (along with Verizon), they failed us, the consumer.

There is no doubt that the CDMA Palm Pre 2 could have been on shelves in time for Xmas (major F -up). And in response to the original question, I think a lot of folks, me included have either purchased another device, like the Droid Pro or since they have waited this long, will continue to wait, not for the Palm pre 2, but for the 4G IPhone.

I will wait for the Web-OS tablet…the Pre-2 was just an attention getter so that Web 0S usuers will purchase the HP tablet. Palm is now history.

I hope to see it soon…i love webos and hope it’ll be a hit! The day VZW has it i’ll buy it.

I was looking at Android devices and the Palm Pixi at Verizon today to replace my old phone. I honestly liked the way the Palm worked better than the Android devices I tried. It just seemed more natural. But a larger screen would be nice.

Not a good marketing scheme by HP-Palm. One delay was excusable; but two has killed all interest in the remake of an old device.
