Anyone Can Use Facebook: 103 Year Old Is Living Proof

Facebook is fast becoming an unstoppable machine which sucks up users of all shapes and sizes and persuades them to use their social networking properties. Just about anyone and everyone with a computer has probably given Facebook a go at some point, but this next lady is one the last people you would have thought would have used it.

Great-grandmother Lillian Lowe is 103 years of age is likely to be Facebook’s oldest active member. On top of that, Mrs Lowe does not check her account off of Apple’s first ever Macintosh as you would expect the elderly to own. Oh no, she used an iPad to update her status and to talk to her family and friends, as reported by NDTV.

This story is living proof that age is not a barrier when it comes to staying connected with the people around you. Facebook is an excellent way to stay in touch with long lost relatives and friends scattered all over the world. A few months back, even the Queen of England got a Facebook fan page. Sometimes it seems it can just be the idea of a huge online network and the complicated buttons and functions that can put the older generation off.

One thing that may put these types of users off even more is the publicity, as T3 has reported that Lillian has already had over 999 new friend requests after her story became big news. The grandmother even said of the site: “I love it, it’s very exciting and it’s a wonderful way of finding out about things. I recommend it for any grandparents to keep in touch with family”. Leave us your thoughts on this story and tell us if you have sent Lillian Lowe a friend request.
