LG Optimus 2X: More Specs Revealed

You may remember a few days ago we reported on LG’s Star, giving a preview of the soon to be released device. We commented on how Engadget had got their hands on the handset for test purposes, remarks were that the Star shared similar styling attributes to HTC’s Droid.

Well Engadget has now sourced some more information, with a press release for the new LG device to get us all excited again. Firstly the Star tag has been dropped in favor of a new title. Now called the Optimus 2X, it will be the first smartphone to run a dual-core Tegra 2 processor at 1GHz.

Packing this sort of power the LG will be more than capable of performing full 1080p TV-out through HDMI, as well as the tasks capable from its 8 megapixel main camera and 1.3 megapixel unit up front for face-to-face calls.

With an impressive 4-inch WVGA display, and expandable 8GB to 32GB storage, the Optimus 2X will be highly competitive on the smartphone market. To aide its journey to the top spot, LG have seen fit to release the 2X with Android 2.2, although Gingerbread updates will follow close behind.

Korea will be the first to lay their hands on the device next month, with Europe receiving it a few weeks later.
