Apple MacBook Pro and iMac updates for 2011?

After the new MacBook Air line was released this year and with the iPad 2 due to come out in 2011, many Apple fans have been wondering if the MacBook Pro line or iMac will also be receiving updates and it seems that good news may be on the way.

The MacBook Pro last received a refresh earlier in 2010 so it does seem likely that an update might come in 2011 and now Arnold Kim over on MacRumors, sourced from Digitimes, reports that Apple is indeed to refresh the Pro’s and the iMac.

The report quotes sources as saying, “that Apple plans to launch at least four upgraded MacBook Pros as well as an iMac that features a new panel size and a price point for the mainstream market.” This news will certainly please a lot of users who can’t see the updates come quick enough. The new panel size and price point for the iMac which last received an update in July 2010, will interest many people.

Chris Davies over on SlashGear also reports on this news and notes the link between the new Intel second-generation Core processors due in early 2011 and the fact that Apple would most likely take advantage of this for the MacBook Pro and iMac refreshes which he feels are likely in the first half of the year.
