Radio Shack iPhone 4 Shortage Of Devices: Running Out

Radio Shack, one of America’s oldest electronics retail outlets was only in the news at the beginning of this month. They were offering Apple’s popular iPhone 4 handset with a promotion giving consumers $50 off the device with a two-year AT&T data plan. Consequently the deal has now expired from today, but indications show that before the cut off point, handsets were already in short supply leaving some customers without a phone.

Along with this promotion, the company were advertising a “Trade and Save” program giving customers $75 credit for an iPhone 3G or $125 in credit for the iPhone 3GS as long as your device was in good working order. According to AppleInsider, not only did the majority of Radio Shack stores not have any iPhone’s to offer it’s awaiting customers but one store in particular only had the 32GB version in limited numbers.

So what can we put this sudden promotion down to, particularly so soon after Black Friday and Cyber Monday? As PopHerald.com stated, have Radio Shack organised a “big clear out” due to the upcoming release of the iPhone 5 and the elusive White iPhone 4 in Spring 2011?
