Foursquare: Photo sharing coming soon?

Foursquare, the location based networking site has continued to grow in popularity and recently reached a milestone of 5 million users. Much like Twitter in our earlier story today about new improvements to Twitter Places, Foursquare is also seeking ways to continually advance services for its loyal users.

Today it seems as though one of the most requested features that Foursquare users have asked for might be about to come to fruition, with news that photo sharing may be added soon. Adam Ostrow over on Mashable reports on this development with a screenshot supposedly from somebody who works with a Foursquare test environment. The screenshot shows an NYC venue page and on the right hand sidebar a “photos” section has appeared.

Where the section appears it says “No photos here yet!” which obviously implies that there will be soon. Foursquare has never confirmed it aims to feature photo sharing but Dennis Crowley, Foursquare CEO, recently tweeted about a “hot new app.” SFGate also recently ran an article by Jay Yarow of Business Insider that speculated about this new app and also hints that photo uploads are on the way. Apparently on Twitter somebody asked Crowley if photo uploads were coming, to which he merely replied, “Sssh!”

Are you a Foursquare user and would you be pleased with the addition of photo sharing? We’d like to know your thoughts on this so please do send us your comments.
