Slow Down App: Aid to safe driving

Now here at OSM we do love a good innovation and only earlier today we told you about a dual-lens camera for example, the Underabove, which can take pictures of both above and below the water simultaneously. We also reported recently on the Anti-Sleep Pilot, a really clever device to stop driver’s dozing off at the wheel.

Now we’ve also heard of another great idea, this time in the form of an app available from the App Store, which is another aid to safe driving. The Slow Down App is designed to stop people speeding when driving and comes from the Belgian organization called Parents of Children Killed in Road Accidents, or OVK, according to Tim Stevens over on Engadget, sourced from OVK Slowdown.

The general idea is that if the car is being driven too fast the music being played slows down but as the correct speed is reached then the music goes back to its usual tempo. Of course it very much depends on the correct speed limits being applied to navigation software but it’s certainly an interesting idea and anything that helps with road safety surely has to be a good idea.
