Sony release new TV with built in PS2

Electronics giant Sony has taken the TV integration scene a little further by releasing a new model that comes with a Playstation 2 built in to the base.

The KDL-22PX300 is ideal for the gamer who either is still loyal to the PS2 or is unable to play the old games on the new PS3. Either way a TV games console hybrid is a new piece of technology that was inevitable and will be greeted with open arms by vintage gamers. Techradar reports that despite being an HD ready TV, the games are not so you will have to put up with the poor graphics like you did 5 years ago.

This new kind of TV is a great idea but you cant help think that it could have come earlier back when the PS2 was in its prime. It makes you wonder why Sony would put an old piece of tech into a new device, most likely putting their unsold PS2s to good use. Now that we have the first form of gaming TV hybrid, it is just a question of time before we see one of Sony’s finest TVs with a built in PS3.

This new 22 inch 720P product is out in the UK for the reasonable price of £199, so you can add this to your list of potential Christmas gifts for the kids. It comes with 4 HDMI ports, a Freeview tuner and the ability to play DVD and obviously PS2 games. Whats your take on this new type of TV, will the built in games console add appeal? Tell us if you think the lack of demand for an old model will affect sales. Would you buy one?
