Gowalla iPhone App Version 3: Foursquare Integration

Back in July when the whole geolocation started getting big we brought you some knowledge that Gowalla and Foursquare will potentially have the same customer base, then in October we brought you more news that Gowalla was teaming up with the social networking giants. The integration was to help subscribers to be able to check in to places and earn points and badges amongst other reasons. Well now we are letting you know that there is a version 3 of the iPhone app Gowalla.

Gowalla has become more and more popular in recent times and the update brings new features, an improved interface and becomes deeply intertwined with social media giant Foursquare. The developers have obviously focused on the visuals and making it easier to “check-in”. The Apple store is the first to see the new version but expect to see Android pick it up early on in 2011.

Now I know what you are thinking… Aren’t Gowalla and Foursquare competitors in the geolocation market? So what are they giving and getting out of it as competitors don’t help each other out to be nice do they? Well Gowalla users will get Foursquare tips whenever you check in anywhere and Foursquare users can earn the badges as well as Facebook deals through the app. Sounds pretty impressive. There are more features which you can read more about over at Mashable.com by clicking here.

Do you use Gowalla? What do you think about them teaming up with Foursquare who are one of their main rivals? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
