FindTheBest: Social comparison engine

We all know that there are a lot of websites out there that help people to compare products and services to help consumers make a good choice, but a new site is on the block that aims to provide completely objective information on the best of everything without any marketing bias at all.

A new startup called FindTheBest.com is described as a “socially curated comparison engine” by Jennifer Van Grove over on Mashable, and was founded by Kevin O’Connor who also founded DoubleClick, later sold to Google. FindTheBest intends to offer comparison searches for just about everything you can think of from tech goods to holiday resorts and from dog breeds to colleges.

Users will be able to look at comparison charts on any subject on any number of variables. For example one instance that Mashable uses is that of pedigree dogs, searchable not only by breed, but also height or temperament. The comparison charts are dubbed “comparison apps” and have been put together by editors but the aim is to encourage others to add to the available data along with being able to add opinions and ratings.

Eventually FindTheBest will also add social aspects so that users can see things liked by their friends. For more on this go to mashable.com. What are your thoughts on FindTheBest? We’d like to hear from you so why not send us your comments.
