Farmville: Pay for game goods with American Express points

We know that many of you are addicted to playing the social network game FarmVille from Zynga when you’re on Facebook and recently told how although it had been the most popular app on Facebook for some time, it had now been overtaken by Phases. We also discussed an interview with Zynga’s co-founder Mark Pincus, and also reported on Zynga’s new game CityVille.

Now there’s more news on FarmVille, this time to say that American Express is teaming up with Zynga so that in future it will be possible to purchase goods on FarmVille and some other games by using your American Express Membership Rewards points, according to Leslie Horn over on PC Mag.

To buy an item in a game, such as limited-edition virtual goods and also game cards, there’ll be a minimum of 200 Amex points needed. Players will also be able to purchase both physical and virtual gift cards. Apparently FarmVille has re-established its position as number one application on Facebook proving its popularity once again so this new partnership with American Express should be a good move.
