Vizio and Toshiba Google TV: CES 2011

It’s very odd that on a day when we’ve already posted an article wondering if Google TV has already hit problems, along comes news of more developments taking place to put it in a rather more positive light as both Toshiba and Vizio seem set to produce new Google TV goods.

Ian King, Douglas MacMillan and Cliff Edwards over on Bloomberg have reported that Google’s TV software is the base for the Toshiba and Vizio products due to be launched at the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas in January according to unnamed sources. Additionally it has been reported that Samsung is also to develop Google TV devices.

Up until now Google TV software has only been used in Sony TV’s and Blu-ray players and a Logitech set-top box and because the Sony products are already being cut in price, this along with Google’s inability to secure content deals with the major media players led us to believe that Google TV could be a rare failure for Google.

However news of these new Google TV products means we may have been premature in our concerns over it and we await further developments to see for sure. For more on this go to Bloomberg.com. What are your thoughts on Google TV so far? We’d like to know so why not send us your comments.

Except your article excluded one thing, demand, if Google an tech companies can get enough products out there, then consumer will demand to have access to content become louder to the point where the networks will have no choice but to cave in an unblock there websites.

Also I expect Google TV will become a lot less walled in the future an a lot more open.
