Simfy Signs Exclusive Partnership with VZ networks

The German equivalent of Spotify, Simfy, has signed an exclusive partnership deal with VZ Networks, Germany’s largest social network and operator of the so-called Facebook copy StudiVZ.

As a result of this deal the 16 million users on VZ will get access to simfy’s ad-supported and free on-demand music streaming service, which contains a catalogue of more than 6.2 million songs. According to reports from Tech Crunch, Simfy is also launching a new student rate for qualifying VZ users offering premium features, such as offline playback and mobile access, starting at €6.99 a month.

VZ networks is a sign of a wider B2B strategy whereby Simfy wants to bundle its music streaming service with a variety of partners such as social networks, mobile network operators, internet service providers, cable operators. This strategy has been attempted before which was greeted with mixed reviews, where companies like Sweden-based Aspiro offer a fully white labeled service to their customers.
