New Kingston 128GB Portable SSD: HyperX Max 3.0

The new Kingston HyperX Max 3.0 USB External SSD was revealed a few days ago and we gave you the news in an article featuring a teardown video of the SuperSpeed portable solid state drive. At the time there was no confirmation on a price or when it may be released and we have more details on that now for you, along with a closer look at the device.

Allyn Malventano over on PC Perspective has given a comprehensive review and teardown on this device and seems pretty impressed. Malventano points out that this device would be particularly suitable for those who want, “speedy external storage at capacities and speeds higher than those obtainable from simple thumb drives,” and points out the build quality is first-class.

The review features a series of photographs showing the internal workings of the HyperX Max 3.0 then goes on to a test system set up and follows with details on the device’s performance in great detail. You can see all the data at the link above. Overall the HyperX Max 3.0 is rated well with pros being a solid performance, highest sequential write speeds and the fact that it’s well made. The only drawback is that compared to a thumb drive it’s not so portable.
