Trends On Twitter: The hottest 10 of the week

This week’s top 10 trends on Twitter are not as sporty as last week’s chart and feature holidays and events this time around. We have compiled the 10 most discussed topics on Twitter this week, with kind thanks to Mashable.

So to kick things off this week at the top of the chart we have the biggest American holiday of the year, Thanksgiving. The 4th week in November sees the celebration of the early years of the American colony and is traditionally a time for people to spend with family as well to gorge themselves on turkey and watch TV. This years thanksgiving was celebrated on Thursday 25th November. The runner up is the new Harry Potter film which is up 4 places since last week. The most popular Tweets were about Dobby the house elf.

The American Music Awards are in at 3 this week as big acts such as the Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna played at the event. This was the 38th award and was live from Los Angeles on November 21st. Next in the chart we see the Korean Standoff, where there was conflict between North and South, where Tweeters posted their prayers that the two would not start a third world war. The 5th top trend of the week is the NFL, because of the same reason as last week. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick faced the Washinton Redskins quarterback (and ex-Eagles QB) Donovan McNabb. The Eagles defeated the Redskins, 59-28,which makes the NFL stay in 5th place this week.

Black Friday is the 6th hottest topic as the biggest shopping day of the year was sparked off. The day after thanksgiving often signals the start of the holiday season in some countries. Just behind in 7th place is U-Kiss, the Korean boy band who trended due to the birthday of one of their members Kevin Woo. In at 8 is Brazilian Slum Violence as a special elite police force of Rio de Janiero, Brazil, prepared to invade an area of slums, currently under control of drug dealers.

Jaxon Bieber is the 9th most popular trend this week as Justin’s little brother celebrates his first birthday. And to complete the chart this week at 10 is Joss Whedon, because Warner Brothers are remaking the TV series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer”, without Whedon who is the orginal creator. That is the 10 top trends for this week, look out for next week’s chart. We welcome your comments so feel free to leave them for us below.
