RIM BlackBerry Bold 9780: Impresses in India

Here at OSM we’ve been bringing you news on the BlackBerry Bold 9780 smartphone from Research in Motion, with the official release date and price, and also more recently a comparison with the Apple iPhone 4, asking which you might choose. The handset, which is the first in the range to incorporate the BlackBerry 6 OS, has impressed a lot of people.

Now its appeal is set to spread even further with news that the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is to be released in India, according to a press release from RIM. The India, RIM Managing Director, Frenny Bawa, said yesterday in Mumbai, “BlackBerry smartphones are very well received in India and we are pleased to be working with our partners to launch the new BlackBerry Bold 9780 in the Indian market. We believe that customers will be extremely impressed with the enhanced user interface and exciting new features available with the BlackBerry 6 operating system.”

For those of you who haven’t heard much yet about the BlackBerry Bold 9780, it’s a 3G smartphone that supports networks around the world and has a keyboard and optical trackpad. It features a 5-megapixel camera with flash and video recording, 512MB Flash memory, and also Wi-Fi and GPS which enables geo-tagging and location-based features.
