Cupertino Apple headquarters set to expand

There can be nobody in any doubt about how successful the Apple corporation is and now it seems the company is about to expand physically as news is out that Apple has purchased land from Hewlett-Packard in Cupertino, 98 acres of it.

HP is heading to Palo Alto to centralize its operations in one place and that gives Apple the perfect opportunity to expand from its current base a few blocks away at 1 Infinite Loop, possibly the snappiest address in the world. The Mercury News reports that a local estate agent put the value of the land just purchased at around $300 million, according to Stan Schroeder over on Mashable.

This land along with another 50 acres that Apple purchased in 2006 makes an area of land several times the size of Apple’s current headquarters. Steve Dowling, an Apple spokesman said, “We now occupy 57 buildings in Cupertino and our campus is bursting at the seams. These offices will give us more space for our employees as we continue to grow.” However it’s not as though Apple can’t afford the price of the land as its revenue hit $20 billion just in the last quarter.
