iOS 4.3 pegged for December 13

Hot-on-the-heels of Apple’s iOS 4.2.1 being released with has certainly pleased a lot of people, we already have some news on iOS 4.3 as it appears that Apple are concentrating on releasing the next updated operating system by the middle of December.

The move has been planned for a while according to Ben Parr over on Mashable, sourced from MacStories but we wonder if the delay of iOS 4.2 might push it back a bit. The new OS will give bug fixes and possibly app subscriptions and importantly for iPad owners interested in Rupert Murdoch’s new venture of an iPad only news publication, it could bring that too. The release date being bandied about for iOS 4.3 is December 13.

John Gruber of Daring Fireball reports that Apple is to hold a press event on December 9 with the announcement. As Apple doesn’t usually hold special events for iOS update announcements it looks like it could be something big is coming, such as app subscriptions. The Rupert Murdoch venture “The Daily” would certainly merit a big announcement so maybe we’ll be seeing Rupert Murdoch alongside Steve Jobs on December 9.
