Google Cloud Connect: Microsoft Office Beater or Not?

With Google’s immanent release of their Cloud Connect we are wondering how it will effect Microsoft Office users, will it make them want to switch? I mean, what is so great about it? Lets have a proper look and then you make your own mind up.

What would you need to do to get it? Well it is a free plugin that you can download from Google. Google’s cloud will give users the ability to save Office documents into Google documents. We all know that Microsoft are trying to break into the same market but if Google or anyone else for that matter gets in there first, then it can only mean bad news for Microsoft.

Now that is just the beginning, according to eWeek.com you will be able to save copies of documents onto the Google Docs cloud but also have them being simultaneously edited by not only you but by other people as well, it doesn’t stop there, you can also sync the Google Cloud onto most personal computers and a range of mobile devices. Does this interest you? If it does then read on over at eWeek.com where Nicholas Kolakowski has prepared a decent article on it.

Do you see this as a threat to Microsoft Office? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
