In the past year we have seen a host of different tablets offered to us and next year is going to be no different. We saw the iPad’s launch in April amongst others and it has been a massive hit. In 2011 what new tablets will we see and will the inevitable iPad 2 be top dog?
Reports from Economic Times tell us that Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Nokia and LG are also set to enter into the tablet market after its huge success over the past months. In 2011, consumers will be spoiled for choice with Apple’s iPad and expected 2nd version, as well as Samsung’s Galaxy Tab, Dell’s Streak, Hewlett Packard’s Slate 500, Toshiba’s Folio 100 and then also the Android tablets.
If the iPad 2 does appear as expected, then in my opinion it will be the dominant tablet out on the market after the roaring success of the first model. Apple have sold millions of units of the first iPad as it was hyped up 3 months before release and then lived up to the expectation. Current iPad owners will be wanted to get the upgraded version as they know what to expect from it and that it is the ultimate gadget to have. Expect new hardware and an updated OS from the iPad 2 which is being tipped for an April launch. You will probably hear the confirmation first from Apple in January time.
The tablet market has exploded because of the easy portability, and over 19.5 million units are predicted to be shifted this year and over 54 million next year and 208 million in 2014. The popular devices have been described as the “void between smart phones and laptops”. Will you buy the iPad 2 if it is released or will you go for a less expensive tablet that the PC or mobile manufacturers are offering? Will the iPad 2 dominate? Tell us with your comments.
