WP7 Phones: HTC 7 Trophy vs. LG Optimus 7

Back in October the Windows Phone 7 was released with various handsets but do any of them have what it takes to compete with the big boys such as Android or iOS? Well one contributing factor on whether or not they can compete will always be the cost of the handset.

There were a couple of pricey handsets that Windows Phone 7 was released on such as the HTC HD7 so we thought we would look at a couple of phones that weren’t so pricey. We are going to look at the HTC 7 Trophy and the LG Optimus’s specs to see which is the best.

Lets look at the Trophy first, it has 8GB of storage, WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, 576MB of RAM, 1GHz Qualcomm processor and a 5 megapixel camera with a flash that it capable of 720p video capture. Not bad at all.

Now onto the Optimus 7, it has 16GB of storage, WiFi, Blootooth, DLNA, 3G, 512MB of RAM, 1GHz Qualcomm processor and a 5 megapixel camera with a flash that is capable of 720p video capture.

From the specs you can see that both phones are pretty similar, but the key differences are in the processors, whilst we have detailed them as the same processor above, they are slightly different models… the Trophy has the QSD8250 while the Optimus has the QSD8650, that coupled with a slightly higher RAM count makes the HTC Trophy slightly better. For further explanations around the specs please head over to pocket-lint and read through Libby Plummer’s article by clicking here.

Lets look at the pricing plans for these two… the Optimus will be at around £30 per month with 600 minutes, unlimited texts and a 500MB limitation of data. The Trophy again is pretty similar and is priced at £25 per month for 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data. Both are based on a 2 year contract.

Which do you think is better? Let us know in the comments below.
