Church Services in 3D: Whatever next?

Just when you think you’ve heard it all with technological advances something else comes along. This time it’s church services in 3D! Recently we posted an article about social media and modern technology impact on churches and this is a really good example of the old meeting the new.

A church in Florida, The Church by the Glades, is to host 20 church services this year in 3D, according to Brenna Ehrlich over on Mashable. The congregation of the church numbering around 5,000 have been asked by the pastor, David Hughes, to extend an invitation to the other residents of the city, population 130,000, to the special services. Even the invitations being used are high-tech.

The invitations have markers and anyone with one of the cards can use it by going to the church’s website. If they then use their webcams and display the marker on the card they can unlock a video with the pastor personally extending his invitation to the services. It really is a clever innovation and shows that some sections of the church are really willing to move with the times, and that can only be a good thing.
