Verizon’s Microsoft Kin One / Two – Now ONEm and TWOm

Guess what gang… Microsoft is attempting to break into the smartphone market again. This time coupled with Verizon. Apparently the Kin ONEm will only cost $19.99 on a 2 year contract and the Kin Twom will be around the $50 marker.

Engadget has reported that that Zune Pass is still on both devices although it is on a ‘WiFi and sideload only’ meaning that there will be no 3G streaming, that is a bit of a bummer! Engadget also move on to say that the voice plan starts at $39.99. Another point raised is that the cheapest option advertised is $9.99 but the cheapest data plan that you can actually select is $15 per month, this doesn’t include a £35 activation fee…

For anyone that saw the previous release of the Kin One and Two you will notice quite a difference in the price plans which is a good step in the right direction although I don’t see how these phones will be able to compete in a crowded market like we have already. In my opinion Microsoft should stick with what they do best and leave this market well alone.

Will you be picking up one of these new phones? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
