Disney & Gowalla Collaborate To Launch Geo-Location Campaign

Location-based social networking site Gowalla gives it’s users the chance to check-in using a mobile device and at times gain items. Today it has been announced that Disney will be joining forces with Gowalla, in a bid to set up a location-based campaign, to give potential people the chance to look at iconic places such as Disneyworld and Disneyland parks.

For users, advantages to this new idea include the use of gaining Disney style stamps with a specific ride theme, firework display and so on, a bit like badges sourced on Foursquare. As well as this a photo and the ability to check streaming will be available. According to Ben Parr at Mashable, users will be able to earn Disney pins by taking part in Disneyworld and Disneyland trips.

It is hoped with Disney now on board, Gowalla will now start to enjoy an increase in its user base and cement itself at the top of geo-location sites such as Foursquare and Facebook Places.

Are you familiar to location-based sites? If so which ones and would you consider Gowalla? Give us your feedback. To find out more log onto Mashable.
