Sharp Announce 3D “Galapagos” Android Phones

The mobile phone market is inundated with varying handsets, each offering their own unique data plans and prices and it’s difficult to know what to choose. Although many consumers will be buying devices in time for the holiday season, it might be worth waiting a little longer as now Sharp will be releasing their own offering. Here at OSM we have already reported on Sharp releasing two iPad style tablets called Galapagos, but now it seems they have taken it a step further with launching two brand new smartphones.

Sharp one of the biggest electronic companies in the world, will be launching two glasses-free 3D handsets named ‘Galapagos 003SH and 005SH.” It has been reported from Stan Schroeder at Mashable, that both devices will incorporate 1 GHz Snapdragon CPUs, will run on Android 2.2 and will include a 3.8-inch 3D display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution. We can report on the 005SH including a full external QWERTY keyboard unlike it’s partner. The 003SH makes up for this offering a better camera, 9.6MP with 720p video recording whilst the 005SH will benefit from a 8MP camera.

After digesting this information, fantastic news has come from gaming developers Capcom. 3D versions of games such as Mega Man, Gold Knights, Resident Evil and Ghosts ‘n Goblins will be offered on Sharp’s smartphones. Reports show that the 003SH will be arriving to Japan’s Softbank in December and the 005SH February 2011.

Can you wait a little longer to get your hands on one of these new 3D smartphones? Let us know. To find out more log onto Mashable.
