Celebrities Tweet Their Respects To Indonesian Tsunami Victims

We have all heard of the devastating news this week, of an Indonesian Earthquake and Tsunami that struck on two occasions within 24 hours of each other off Western Indonesian islands. So far the death toll has risen to 343 and some 338 people are still missing. Rescue teams were delayed in their searching due to bad weather conditions including high waves and stormy weather. The internet is rife with up-to-date news of the disaster including social networking site Twitter.

The site is rapidly growing in user numbers and has not just taken on the likes of me and you but the celebrity world as well. The Times of India has reported that since the beginning of the week, celebrities including Tom Cruise, The Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber have been tweeting their tributes to the Indonesian victims.

Tom Cruise has tweeted, “Our hearts go out to the people of Merapi and Jakarta.” Like wise Justin Bieber posted his own words by tweeting, “Just found out about the earthquake in Indonesia. Everyone please pray for the people there.” Nick and Joe Jonas tweeted, “Indonesia I love you be strong.”
